Purpose of Position:

Interns and volunteers at Synthesis are overseen by the Retreat Director and Lead Facilitator ensuring interns and/or volunteers

We seek interns and volunteers that demonstrate:

  • Experience with altered states of consciousness and an understanding of what others in altered states of consciousness need to feel safe and supported

  • Highly-effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Professionalism: excellent and effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well with people of all ages, backgrounds, etc.

  • Enthusiasm, charisma, creativity, humor, and individual initiative

  • Support/embody the mission and vision of Synthesis


  • Must be available for a minimum of one of these options: 7 day, 14 day, or 30 day schedule Complete an interview with volunteer coordinator and internship supervisor

  • Knowledgeable of basic computer software programs (Microsoft, Excel, etc.)

  • Complete Synthesis orientation and onboarding prior to volunteer assignment


  • Assist Synthesis Lead Facilitators during three-day retreats

  • Communicate and consult with others on the staff in planning, implementing, and evaluating

  • Attend leadership and team meetings as assigned

  • Assist in the administrative responsibilities of the overall Synthesis Retreat as assigned

Compensation Package:

This is an internship/volunteer opportunity, there is no compensation for this position.

Interns/volunteers who have committed to a 30 day internship may have the opportunity to participate in a retreat at cost, to be determined based upon availability.
